- I loved this book. I’ve been a recovering jerk for a while now. It’s really not okay to be a jerk in the way we relate to others. This book gets to the core of loving other people, which from my point of view is being patient and kind outwardly to others and giving them the benefit of the doubt in our minds. That is, not relating in ways that are arrogant, rude, irritable, resentful or boastful, and also, not insisting on our own way. Hopefully we can have our minds changed over time, so that our inward emotions come to reflect our outward actions. I’ve found this to be true in my life to some extent. I am far from perfect in applying the principals of this book, but life is much more enjoyable as I aim for them in my relationships.
- I recognize oh too well all the sections of this book lol! Wonderful insight given. I'd love to read more of her works!
- Sarah's book is every engaging and has a straightforward approach. The content is easily understandable, written clearly and gets straight to the messages. Her tone is conversational. She uses personal examples to demonstrate the philosophy. Overall, the book is an approachable, quick read. I was able to immediately begin putting her techniques into practice!
- This book takes lighthearted approach to saying so many important things! It is an easy and fast read. I know I'm going to read it again! Lots of ideas to use in your life and many references for further reading on the topics included. I know I will be referencing this book for years to come. I would recommend this read to everyone!
- Easy read. Great book but beware it hits home. Loved every chapter.
- Excellent book
- This book should be required reading for all couples, bosses and anyone interested in communicating better, especially those dealing with difficult people. It tells you how to hold up a mirror to yourself to see if YOU are the problem, then goes forward from there.
- I was able to obtain an advanced copy of "So People Say You're An A******" and was able to read it in about two hours. If you are like myself, you'll appreciate the concise nature of the book without it being so concise that it compromises the content. The author ensures that multiple viewpoints and experiences are explored in each subcategory, including personal self-identification of being a challenging person, to being a loved one of a challenging person, and those of us who work with difficult people.
For myself, I found the section on "A******* in the Workplace" to be most helpful. In my opinion the workplace is where I have the least amount of control over the people who are going to be a part of my daily life. The section reminded me that working with difficult people is a given in any job, and it broke isolation by informing me that this is a problem for everyone, which reinforces why her suggestions on mindsets and skill sets are so important. Sarah Brabbs does a thorough job of identifying the actions of a*******, the effects on the company, and provides clear "Do's and Dont's" for how to better navigate the experience of working with challenging individuals.
It's a book that has at least one section that is relevant to everyone and it is a quick read that has the potential to change a life experience. Highly recommend.
